Financial Advisors in Cherokee County, Georgia
One office in Canton, and clients across the county. Here is where we work and what planning tends to look like in each community.
Griffith and Werner has been in Canton since 2004, and most of the families we work with live within half an hour of the office. Cherokee County is not one market, though. Retirement planning in Ball Ground, where wealth is often tied up in land and a family business, looks very little like retirement planning in Woodstock, where it usually arrives as a 401(k) and a decade of vested company stock.
These pages describe how we actually work in each community — who we sit down with, what tends to be complicated there, and how to reach us. We have one office and one team; every portfolio is managed in-house rather than handed to an outside manager.

Serving Cherokee County: common questions
What areas of Cherokee County does Griffith and Werner serve?
Our office is in Canton, the Cherokee County seat, and we work with families throughout the county — including Woodstock, Ball Ground, Holly Springs, Hickory Flat, Waleska, and Free Home — as well as neighboring communities in Cobb, Fulton, Forsyth, and Pickens counties. We also serve clients across Georgia and in other states by video.
Do you have offices outside of Canton?
No. Griffith and Werner has one office, at 111 Mountain Brook Drive, Suite 208 in Canton, Georgia. Clients elsewhere in Cherokee County meet us there or by video and phone. We would rather serve the whole county honestly from one location than list addresses where nobody works.
Do I have to live in Cherokee County to work with you?
No. We are a registered investment adviser serving clients across Georgia and beyond. Cherokee County is simply where we are rooted — many of our client relationships began locally and continued after people moved.
How does Georgia tax retirement income for Cherokee County retirees?
Georgia provides a retirement income exclusion for residents age 62 and older, with a larger exclusion beginning at 65, that shelters a substantial portion of retirement income from state income tax. The amounts are set by state law and depend on age, filing status, and the type of income, so we plan withdrawals around your specific numbers and coordinate with your tax professional. Georgia also does not tax Social Security benefits.
What does the first meeting cost?
